As a result of the tragic and untimely death of actor Chadwick Boseman from colorectal (CRC) cancer there has been increased awareness and attention to the alarming number of people being diagnosed with CRC under the age of 50. The incidence of Young-Onset CRC is rising dramatically and is usually diagnosed at a later stage than in average onset CRC. The African American population has been disproportionately affected by early onset CRC and death. Kimmie Ng, MD, a co-investigator with team OPTIMISTICC, answered the call and was interviewed by multiple media outlets.
